About Effort Eater.
Why I built it
I’m Spencer Bailey. I built Effort Eater to see how a regular food or drink habit compares with the effort of exercise. A calorie count can be hard to picture. Walking miles or minutes on a bike make it more concrete.
Pick a serving, set how often you have it, and compare the total with an activity. The slider shows what changes if you have fewer servings each week.
The data
Food calories and serving weights come from USDA FoodData Central’s SR Legacy release. Activity estimates use the 2024 Adult Compendium of Physical Activities. The methodology lists the formulas and assumptions.
These are estimates. A generic food may differ from the product you buy, and your actual energy use will vary. The calculator does not predict weight loss.
