Effort Eater is a food and activity comparison calculator at efforteater.com. This page explains the information used to run the calculator and how advertising can affect your privacy.
Calculator inputs
Food searches are sent to our server to find matching foods. Your selected food, serving size, frequency, body weight, comparison period, and energy setting are sent to our server to calculate results. The app does not create an account or save a personal food diary, body-weight history, or calculation history in its database.
The app filters food-search and calculator input parameters from Rails request logs. Hosting infrastructure may still process request URLs and technical information. Please avoid entering personal information into the food-search field.
Device storage and essential cookies
Your metric or imperial preference is saved in your browser's local storage under effort-eater-units. You can change it in Settings or remove it by clearing this site's browser data.
The site may use essential session cookies for request security. Blocking cookies or local storage can affect security checks or saved preferences. We do not currently include a separate third-party analytics service.
Hosting and operational information
The site is hosted by Fly.io. Delivering pages and maintaining the service involves processing technical information such as IP addresses, request times, requested URLs, browser information, and error details. Operational logs are separate from the calculator's food database.
Google advertising
Google ad loading is currently disabled on this site. We have published an authorized-seller entry and account verification metadata for AdSense setup; these do not themselves load Google advertising scripts or set advertising cookies.
When Google advertising is enabled, third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies, web beacons, IP addresses, or other identifiers to serve and measure ads. Google and its partners may use advertising cookies to personalize ads based on visits to this site or other sites. Effort Eater does not use calculator inputs to set advertising audiences or targeting.
Learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services and read Google's privacy policy. Manage Google personalized advertising through My Ad Center. You can also review participating companies' choices through YourAdChoices. Opting out of personalization does not necessarily remove all ads.
Consent and privacy choices
When advertising is enabled, applicable consent messages provide choices about advertising data use. For visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, the advertising setup must use a Google-certified consent platform as required by Google's policies. Where available, use the consent message's privacy settings link to revisit your choices.
You can also control cookies and clear site data through your browser. Clearing data may reset saved unit preferences and consent choices. External sites linked from our food sources and guides have their own privacy practices.
